Tom Tom home reports a new version of the sofware for my 720.

Every time I do am update, its a battle.........GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Question?

Will an update remove my favorites? POI? Address book ? etc

If so, any way to save them and reload after the update?

I am more concerned with favorites actually.

Thanks

Application updates don't wipe out Favourites, map updates do........:(

But, here's a link by Mod mikealder as to a better way to retain Favourites.

Also, before any major update, like a map or application, make an Explorer, not Home, backup. Ensure hidden files/folders are showing.

Appreciate the info.

If I make an explorer back up....................how do you use it?

If the 720 wont boot up, how could you use it?

I will do it now before I do the update.

Thanks again.

If worse comes to worse, you shouldn't need to restore the Explorer backup. If you do, you just copy the contents back to the unit, overwriting what is there.

The REALLY important thing to remember is to disconnect the unit properly from the computer. After installing the application update, use Home's Device Disconnect to do so.
