Updating to new maps

I haven't used my TOM TOM one V2 is some time and would like to update the maps. My current application is version 7.903 and the map version is 665.1293. I have a couple of questions.
1. If I update the map will the Firmware update also or do I have to somehow update the Firmware first.
2. I have a 1 gig card. When I use Home to order maps it offers USA and Canada but states that this version has been modified to fit 1 gig cards. If I install a 2 gig card will it offer me a different map that has more detail or more POI's or more something.

I'm not sure whether 7.903 is the latest firmware for that model or not. If Home doesn't offer an update, I suspect there isn't a version 8 available.

But you can call support at 866-486-6866 to confirm what is the latest.

No, it can't tell what size sd card is installed when it comes to a map dl; it will still offer the 1 gig map.
