I gave two of my kids TomTome One's for Christmas a couple of years ago. One of the two was just stolen. The other one has been out of service for a year because I gave my daughter a Garmin Nuvi instead of the TomTom since even the updated maps for the One were way behind the maps for the Nuvi. (There is a lot of road construction in her city, and she was new to the area.)
I was going to give my son the unused One to replace the one that was stolen, but the maps have not been updated since it was taken out of service. Further, when I connect it to my computer and try to log in with the email address associated with this unit, the TomTom site will not accept the password, which I know is correct. I click the "Forgot my password" button, and the site has yet to send the password reset email. (It's not a spam folder problem. I use an account with no spam filtering for this purpose.)
Sure I could associate the One with another account, but there may be some time left in the update service I previously purchased. It could also be expired. What should I do to get the TomTom site to send the password reset?
Also, since it may have been over a year since this One was updated, I suspect that the cost to update it is prohibitive. Are we at the stage of throwing perfectly good GPSs in the trash because of update costs? I have lifetime subscription for my Nuvi. Not so for my XL and Ones.
