Update tomtom IQ

Is it possible to update my tomtom without the tomtom home software?

I believe you can update certain items using a bluetooth data connection via your cell phone. Other than that, no other way. Does Home not work on your PC?

Yes, home will not work on my PC as I do not have a copy of Microsoft Windows.

When I connect the tomtom to my computer via USB, I can see it as a removable drive. I am just wondering why I cannot download the map updates and copy them onto the device ?

Edit : I went and tested it out for you on my TomTom. You definately are able to download mapshare updates and QuickGPSfix using a bluetooth connection via your cell phone.

To download the quickfix, you need to go to "TomTom services" on the main menu and then "download QuickGPSFix"

To download mapshare corrections you need to go to "Change preferences" then "Manage Maps" then "Download free map corrections"

Any chance you can use another computer that does run Windows? Just for the maps, I guess?

What specific model and application version do you have?

Most HOME downloads (other than maps) can be downloaded from direct links to the Tomtom servers. HOME will auto-download the proper files, but if you can't update at a friend's house, we'll try to track down the links.
