TomTom Model(s)
Start 25
Hello,
My TomTom GPS Starter 25 no longer picks up satellites. It is therefore unusable. Despite a factory reset, despite waiting several hours, it does not pick up anything.
However, I noticed an anomaly: each time I connect the GPS to MyDrive Connect I have a message to tell me that there is 1 update available with QuickGPSfix (70Ko). So I do the update, but nothing changes for the GPS: no satellites. Each time I connect with MyDrive Connect I have the same message with always the same result. It seems that the GPS does not download the update.
Is there a way to paste QuickGPSfix to the root of the TomTom, i.e. to do manually what should be done automatically? Thank you in advance.

Hi

When you connect your GPS to your Mydrive connect account is it recognized?

No, it is not possible to paste QuickGPSfix to the root of the Tomtom.

Sounds like something is blocking the download of the new file. Go to the systray icon for MyDrive (lower right of your screen), right click, open up Settings and use the "Clear Cache" option and try the download again.

Yes, the GPS connects immediately with MyDrive.
Unfortunately, the "Clear Cache" did not change anything.

Have you tried deleting Mydrive Connect and then reinstalling it?
The other solution, if you can, is to try with another computer.

If you go to "Status and information" then "GPS status" you should see the number of satellites you are receiving.

When I look at the number of satellites, there is only one due North. On the other hand, I have another older GPS, an XL IQ routes, which sees 7 satellites in a few seconds.
I uninstalled MyDrive Connecrt version 4.4.05040 to replace it with an older version version 4.2…… but impossible to open it because the update is mandatory. So no other solution.
If I knew the circuit responsible for this malfunction, I would open the box to change it, but no hope on this side.

Do you have enough internal memory on your GPS?

Have you recently installed a new map?

To see if your GPS is communicating with Mydrive Connect, you can try downloading a voice to your GPS.

Hello,
After multiple attempts, I consider that it is my Starter 25 that is broken. I did a search to find an approved TomTom repairer. Mission impossible with TomTom.com which takes you for a ride and finally sends you to the list of non-repairable GPS and you find your GPS in the middle of dozens of TomToms. Conclusion once the warranty has passed your GPS is no longer repairable.
So I took an old TomTom, an XL IQ Routes, where I managed to load the latest map of France. But now I would like to copy the favorites I saved from my Starter 25 into it, but there is a problem: the procedure for this transfer works with MyDrive Connect, but the XL IQ Routes only works with TomTom Home.

Hello
I don't know how you managed to load the latest map of France, most XLs are no longer supported by Tomtom.

As for repairs, it's like any electronic equipment, it is possible to have it repaired a few years after the end of the warranty, then you have to buy a new one.
