TomTom Go App
I prepare complex TomTom route files in gpx format for classic car driving events - these may use 20-30 waypoints to create the required route. Over last weekend a problem appeared when the Severn Bridge was closed & unfortunately this was in the middle of our route. Those using the TomTom Go app was unable to open the route so had to follow another team who was using a paper map or a Garmin satnav (i know heresy on this forum).

My question is is it possible to modify the track on your phone so that the closed road can be avoided? Its easy enough on a PC where the plan.tomtom.com allows you to move GPX waypoints, but is there a way to do this on a phone?

Thanks

Howard

It is possible on the Tomtom GO application to click on the 3 points in the options that appear and select to avoid part of the route.

Your suggestion works when a route exists that needs to be modified, but in this case the message on the App is "no route possible" (due to the closure of the Severn Bridge, and my waypoint on the approach road).

From a computer I can easily modify the route using https://plan.tomtom.com/ to resolve the problem, but need some suggestions to help other rally entrants who may need to modify their routes on the fly.

Thanks

Howard

Once you get the "no route possible" message there is no way to modify on the device. You could try using a different default route type if you have fastest try shortest or eco, that may work unless the offending waypoint is right in the middle of the closure.

On the phone it may not be possible to modify the route, however on the phone's Mydrive application it is possible to modify it by adding a waypoint.

For everyone to receive the fix, everyone must be connected to the same Tomtom account or send the new route by email.

Seems like this is a dead end unfortunately. When I try to load the route into MyDrive on the phone, I get the following message:-
"Error
An error occurred. Please try again later."
So still no opportunity to change the route.

Willy875, Many thanks for your sensible observation about the need to distribute the fix. I had worked this out and was planning to instruct the users how to make the correction themselves.

Cheers

Howard
