Hi,

I picked up my TT 340 a few days ago and I updated it to 9.025. When I connect the device to my computer and look at the files on it, some of the applications have little squares & strange symbols for names (extensions as well). Should I be concerned by this? i.e. will it cause me problems down the road if I have to do a map or any other update. Thanks in advance for your response.

Did you make a backup at all prior to updating?

It sounds as if there was a corruption in the installation.

Make an Explorer, not Home, backup now. If it stalls on the corrupt files, skip them and copy the folders and remaining files one by one. You want to MAKE SURE your map folder is backed up.

After the backup, reformat the unit. Don't use quickformat.

Then connect the unit to Home and you should be offered an application. Download and install it. If it is a 8x application, then STAY with that. Then copy back your map folder. Finally, you can add voices through Home.
