TT versus Mapquest

I did a route plan from Lynchburg VA to Buffalo NY both on Mapquest and TT Route planner online.
I got 2 completely different routes, yet they had the same travel time.

My question is this: Which should I use and why is there this big discrepancy?

Any help appreciated.

Mapquest uses NavTeq mapping while Route Planner uses TeleAtlas mapping, the same used by TomTom. And the same mapping is utilized by Google Maps. Try the routing there.

Also TomTom utilizes IQ routing which selects the best roads based upon the time of day.
