TT one 3rd won't charge or startup!?

Hi,

My Tomtom 3rd edition stopped working last weekend. There is no reaction when I push the powerbutton, no green light and no startup. When I plug in the charger, the green charge light lights up but still no startup.
I tried resetting it and leaving it overnight to charge but no luck so far.

I opened the casing and found that one of the components inside looks like it overloaded. (component D5, see pictures) Is there a way to bypass this component or another method of fixing my tomtom?

If you manage to repair it bu changing the blown component I would also get a new car charger cable as that is the most probable cause for the component failing - the charger cables will put 12V to the device if the feed back wire severs (a known fault) the device only likes 5V so under fault conditions it issues costly black smoke! - Mike

Thanks for your reply!

I would like to fix it!

Does anyone know what kind of diode/component it is and where to get it?
If not, what would it cost to get it repaired by tomtom? (don't have warranty)

Kind regards

Marcel
