TT Go730 Start/Shut Down Screen

I am having a hard time getting a custom start up and shut down screen to work. I follow the instructions for making your own. Label them according to TT save them as 24bit bitmap and replace them in the root directory. It seems the start up image works for both start up and shut down even though they are two different images just the start up one is being used for both. So I went onto TT Home and downloaded a Start up and shut down image from there to see if that would work. Same thing two different images but the start up one is being shown for starting up and shutting down. Any advice?

Two things are needed.

1. Your shutdown screen should be named 'antitheftw.bmp' (no quotes). Notice the 'w'? That's for the widescreen version.

2. In safety preferences, you MUST have 'warn not to leave unit in car' checked.

By the way, if you want to 'roll your own' splash screens, go here. Pick either a 720 or 920 as that'll create the widescreen (4.3") version you'll need.

Ok thank you . I will try that tonight when I get home. I did not have the Warn not the leave in car checked. Just curious to why that must be checked for the splash screens to work?

Because that preference choice 'triggers' the antitheft splashscreen to show up. It's a visual warning, not an audible one.

I don't have the warning checked but the splash screen works OK.
To roll your own, as dhn said, just resize any picture to 480 x 272 x 24 BP and save it as a BMP.
As my chosen computer voice and SWMBO have virtually the same name, I made the following start up screen (reduced here to 320 wide):

To actually make the change from the previous one you must go to Change Preferences > Start up preferences > (pick a preference or tap [Done]) > tap [ YES ] to the question Do you want to change the start-up image?

Last time, when I changed to the above picture and could not get it to change from the previous one, dhn reminded me of that.


Now, if I could only get my Arrival sound to play. Maybe that doesn't work in conjunction with a computer voice.
