Every time i turn my tomtom off and leave the car, i come back and the thing is turned on and comes to the screen where you say "I agree" on the bottom right

So to check, I turned it of and waited in the car and it turns itself on after a minute or so.

I have come to the conclusion that maybe its because my bluetooth phone is connected and when I turn the TT off while it's still connected, so when i come back to the car it turns itself on. I think it might be a cool idea so i dont waste the time pushing the button :p

Does anyone else have this problem?

Nope, but I don't leave it in the car,I take it with me.I have left it turned off on the kitchen table and it doesn't come on when I walk in the house carrying my cellphone(which is set as the active phone on my 920).

This is a known problem....my 930 does it too....has nothing to do with bluetooth....these units when off are really just in a suspended / standby mode.

call TomTom and complain, the more people that complain will hopefully speed them up with a fix.

When you call....please post what they tell you.

I have a 920 and a 930. I've seen the 920 do this once or twice, I don't use the bluetooth function, but my 930 does this every day. When I come back to the car the battery has been depleted and I cannot even restart the device without pushing the reset with the power cord connected. I'm going to call TT support to see if I can get the 930 replaced. If your 920 is doing this as frequently you should do the same. Fortunately for me this issue on my 920 has been rare.

I think I remember reading somewhere that, indeed, there is a faulty batch of 930s out there but TomTom cannot isolate the batch to a range of serial numbers for the units. Indeed call them.

thats a shame. oh well. great device, never had any issues until now. Ill give them a calll and give them a piece.

thanks :)

My 920 does this from time to time. I've never been able to correlate the happening with anything obvious like bluetooth use. It seems to happen most often after the unit has been connected to Tom Tom Home and operated while in the dock. As a result, I've pretty much stopped operating the unit while docked and only docking to check for updates once a week or so. We'll see what happens.

Don't Leave GPS in Vehicle

Don't ever leave your GPS clearly visible and on in your vehicle when you leave the car. It is only a matter of time before someone breaks your window and leaves with your TomTom. You have been lucky up until this point.

Just my 2 cents.....

Just got off the phone with TomTom support.

The tech I spoke with " never " heard of this problem.

He asked some others in the tech department....and only one tech said he had heard of this problem.

SO....we " ALL " need to call TomTom and voice our problem with these units.

Maybe this will help speed them up with a fix !

CALL TOMTOM !

Another poster ran the Clear Flash tool from here: http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?FID=6211&Lid=4

And it seems to remedy the problem .... for now, anyway.

I've done the clearflash method....seems to help for a short period.

I'm in the process of reverting " Back " to the 8.002 application to see if maybe this problem is related to the 8.010 update.

I'm one of the ones that was advised by TT support to try the clear flash tool on my 930 that was rebooting almost every time I turned it off. I had previously been advised to do the reset to factory settings which didn't work and caused me some aggravation in having to reset everything back the way I wanted it and to have to restore my favorites as well. And after all that it still rebooted. So I called back in and was told to do the clear flash thing. Well I was quite skeptical and getting a little irritated but so far it has worked, no reboots that day, and I've just gotten back from using it on several errand trips cutting it off each time with no issues whatsoever. It may not be permanent but I'm happy!!

Update on my 930

As stated in my post above.

I returned my 930 to the original 8.002 version application.

My 930 now runs as it should and as it did when I bought it.

Been running and shutting down " PERFECT " for 7 days !

NO shutdown problems

NO reboots

NO starting up on it's own

The 930 runs perfect like it should....and like it always did before the 8.010 so-called " upgrade "

Before returning the 930 to the original 8.002....I tried all the so-called fixes.

poweroff file

clear flash ( kind-of-worked ) for a day or two.

reinstall the 8.010 application

reinstall the maps

various ways of disconnecting the device

you name it....I tried it !

I called TomTom " again " the reported my findings.

What worked for me...

I had this problem too with my 930. It occurred when I had the battery savings setting set to turn off when external power disconnected. I disabled the setting and it stopped doing it. I found that it was rebooting after turning off.

Where to get the original 8.002 application

Hi, Mark.

My device is a bit different (TomTom Go 920T) but my experience has been exactly the same as yours: the device shows the same problems and I tried the same fixes to no avail. I'd like to try your solution of going back to to the original 8.002 application.

A couple of questions though:
1. Where do I find the original 8.002 application? and
2. If/when I find it, is it going to be the same for my 920T as for your 930?

Many thanks for your help,

lktom

I " think " application are the same as long as the version number is the same.

As for finding 8.002....My 930 came with it installed....so i just restored the back up.

I would guess either TomTom support if called could load 8.002 into your account..

Or maybe one of the members here will have it for download or know how to seperate it from a backup or device.
