Transferring lifetime maps on a XXL 540-TM

I recently got a TomTom GO 2535 TM which is now my primary GPS. Want to give my older TomTom XXL 540-TM to a friend. Want to know what would we need to do so that the lifetime maps service can be transferred over to him. I assume he would have to register the unit with his own email address then enter the lifetime maps promo code, right?

The 'cleanest' way to do so is to provide the email address/pw you used for the 540-TM registration. You see, TT doesn't allow for the transfer of subscriptions -- if I remember the fine print correctly. (You can call CS at 866-486-6866 to confirm)

You should be using a different email address for the new unit anyway.

Anyway, CS may be able to sort things out for you.
