TomTom Model(s)
ONE XL -S
I bought a TomTom Xl and just after a few days using it I am having problems to turn it on. Every time I try to turn on I need to press the bottom more than 20 seconds and the device resets itself. I checked for memory errors, updated the software and reinstalled everything with no results. Need help please!!!!:(

I gather that model does NOT have a reset hole on the unit; therefore, holding the power button is equivalent to resetting.

Since that doesn't seem to work, check the battery is being fully charged. You should keep it connected between uses so it does get the battery charge. Is that the issue?

You may need to return the unit to where you bought it if just a couple of days old.

The device is charging well and working fine. Let me clarify the problem: The power button does not turn the device ON. When I press the power button for 2 or 3 seconds I get no resuts. The only way I can turn ON the device is reseting it, i.e. pressing the power button for about 20 seconds.

Perhaps you need to update your application. I know that recent firmware updates for the Go series returned the functionality of unit turn on with minimum time required pressing the power button.

Oh! my! how true especially if you have already downloaded an updated application file from TomTom home.
Heck I couldn't keep mine turned off. The screen would turn on at random and just glow until it killed the battery if we didn't catch it in time. I contacted TomTom (online) they gave me a link to download a replacement application file and all is well again.
To be noted, after just replacing the application file, TomTom home scanned and indicateded there was a new updated application file for my XL. Having gone through exercise already I declined. I found it odd that after just downloading the new application file that it would be out of date a few moments later.
I plan to leave well enough alone, at least until after the traveling season.

Cheers
Willis

Do tell. What version did you have and what version did they give you that works? There is another thread trying to solve the Unwanted Auto On problem.
