TomTom XL IQ Routes no map

I recently bought the tomtom XL IQ routes 340s and i tried to update the map and it was interrupted saying the wire wasn't connected and next thing i knew when I retry the installation there is not enough room to download the newest map. Also when I tried to start the tomtom there also is no map at all! Is there a way i can make some room or something so i can install the newer map?? by the way I am using a mac.
