TomTom TT Go Expert Plus 7
Hi,

I recently purchased the above device, however I can not connect it to my computer using any other cable than the USB A - USB C cable that came with it. None of my other USB data cables work with the TomTom, is the TomTom USB cable propitiatory?

I have also looked online on Amazon and Ebay for a TomTom cable for this device and it doesn't seem possible to buy a genuine cable from anywhere.
The cable that came with it is in my car so it is a right PITA to remove the cable everytime I want to check for updates. I know it has WIFI but that is sooooo slow it is unreal.

Cheers
Steve

Not useful the Go Expert cable does not need a connection to the computer to perform updates.

Any cable with a name brand USB C plug should work.

The USB connector is only used for charging the device. For any updates, connect the GO Expert directly to your WiFi network.

So this device is not designed to be connected to Tomtom home or Tomtom MyDrive running on a computer then?

No, all is handled directly from the device using WiFi. No need for TomTom HOME or TomTom MyDrive.

TomTom Home - definitely not. It's for much older devices, and wouldn't recognize your device.
MyDrive Connect ONLY if you need to do some changes to the voices.
All other updates can be managed over WiFi.

Thanks for the replies. Am I right in thinking there is also no SD card slot on this device?

The thinking is that with 32GB of memory, there's little to no chance that a user will have memory issues for loading all of Europe with plenty of room to spare, even as maps continue to grow. Current maps are only about half that size, and this generation allows you to add/delete countries individually anyway.

Funny because when I got it It wanted to do a map update of what was already installed, I also installed California and Colorado on it and then map upgrades failed as not enough memory, I ended up deleting most of the obscure EU countries so I could upgrade it, so I am guessing 32GB is not sufficient afterall.

Interesting. Sounds like there was more than just Europe installed at the beginning. It takes something on the order of 16GB.

It's similar in North America. I have all of the USA, Mexico and Canada loaded, and a couple of countries in Europe, and I still have 12.32GB of internal memory available.
