tomtom xxl540 traffic is always searching for a station .......never seen it solid green yet....is it that it works in more populated areas?

What happens to the circle with the rotating (i.e. searching) arrow. Does it eventually switch to another symbol (other than green of course!).
The most likely reason for failure to get a data connection is that the Vodafone signal level is too low. This is likey to be due to your car having athermic windscreen (solar reflecting), or that the area you live in has a poor reception. In my area of north east surrey the signals are very poor most of the time - my mobile (outside car) was showing red (minimum signal) in several locations yesterday. Does the XXL540 Traffic work OK when outside the car?
