Are you having trouble upgrading to the newest version of TomTom Home? Are versions of Home software greater then 2.5 not allowing you to operate your GO within Home? If so please start opening issues with about this problem with TomTom. TomTom has failed me and numerous others with by not fixing the issue with their Home software.

I have the same issue . The original Home software works but when I upgrade TO Tom home to a newer version it fails to update and restore a backup properly . Windows XP system .
However the factory warranty support that I have received was very good.
I would just like to see a more simplified and reliable software system that took up less memory space.

... it fails to update and restore a backup properly.
For a variety of reasons, most of us here do not recommend Home as a backup system for your TomTom. It's much better to back up the entire TomTom "drive" to your PC using Windows if for no other reason than that Home always overwrites your previous backup. There's a blow by blow description around here of doing this with Windows.

tomtom support

Hi i would not say tomtom support was worthless but there support could be alot better
and alot more helpful, they will only help you with what you ask IF you are asking it in the
wright context its as if a machine is answering you. At the end of the day you are paying
good money for there product but the full support you require is not available when you
want it which is very frustrating, as usual an automated system is trying to solve your
problem.

Sadly, you've just described nearly the entire industry of tech support as it is today, so best get over it. Drives me to distraction, personally, most especially when I'm talking to someone whose English is overlaid with a very strong Hindi accent such that I have difficulty understanding them. Problem solving by phone is hard enough when the communication is clear -- a disaster when it isn't. At least TomTom hasn't put us through that yet - in the US anyway. I don't know where they're sending your UK calls.

Many outsourced tech support companies place warm bodies in seats with scripts from which they operate, and only when it is plain that the script is failing to produce a result are you passed to a second level support person with any real product knowledge. You've accurately assessed the service you received - you're still at level 1 scripted support. Time to push on for level 2.

I have already done that thanks it worked out good . I also backed the SD card up onto a seperate SD card.
The extra purchased map works fine as the spare SD card only goes back in the same devise that I purchased it for. As you pointed out previously.
