TomTom Model(s)
one and start
Hi

My parents have recently brought a TT Start and am trying to edit the startup screen. I've edited the splash.bmp and splashw.bmp from the root file. The splash.bmp works but it is the second of the start up screens to be shown with the original TOMTOM startup coming up first. Anyone know where this first mystery startup screen lives and what it's called? Doing my nut! Cheers all.

The splash.bmp file applies to units with the small 3.5" screens. The splashw.bmp file is used for models with screens > 4 inches.

In other words, both files are not used on the same device.

Ok thanks makes sense then why the slashw.bmp does nothing then (it is 3.5in model). Any idea where this first startup screen is? Its not splash.bmp in the root as this appears after the first startup screen.

Are you saying that the image you want DOES appear BUT another image appears first and then the unit switches to your image? If so, that shouldn't happen.

That model has a reset hole on the back under the cover to the right of the usb port. Press that and see if it helps.

Also, Voices and images-->Change start up image, is your image showing there to select? And do you have the latest application (I think it is 9.430) for that model?

Finally, see here:

What does the "original TomTom startup" that you are seeing look like?

It sounds like you are seeing a default boot-up screen (generated by the OS and not a file) which you should only get after a re-boot or cold start up, not when you switch the unit on normally.
