TomTom Start (3.5 screen): How do you set the map to always north?

I bought a TomTom Start (Regional Black) today to replace my excellent TomTom One.

I haven't connected it to my computer yet but I've searched the menu several times over and can't figure out how you set the map display so that it is always pointing north irrespective of what direction you are driving.

Surely this is a feature, isn't it?


Also does it come with lane guidance?

I actually bought it in a bit of an emergency and am beginning to regret my decision.

Do you have the Start or the Start2 model?

Neither has 2D - Direction up. The Start does not have ALG, the 2 model does.

I have this one:

Halfords | TomTom Start Sat Nav - UK & ROI

TomTom Start SatNav 3.5 screen with UK and ROI roads.

Sometimes referred to as regional black.

Probably will have to take it back.

If you look at the specs tab on the link it does say that ALG is NOT available on that model.

Ah, very lazy of me.

What does surprise me is that you cannot set the map to always point North.

You can only switch between 2D and 3D. Key feature that, well for me.
