Recorded routes do not sync from the Rider 550 to MyDrive (plan.tomtom.com)

  • The Rider 550 has the latest software, maps, etc.
  • MyDrive is connected.
  • POIs and routes created in plan.tomtom.com sync to the device.
  • POIs and routes deleted form plan.tomtom.com are deleted from the device.

Recorded routes do not get synced to plan.tomtom.com.

The workaround is to copy the route to an SD card, copy to computer then upload to plan.tomtom.com.

Any suggestions on how to get recorded rides to sync?

I know you've said that "POIs and routes created in plan.tomtom.com sync to the device", but that may have been true only before your recent attempts to sync directly from the device.

Are you certain that your device is currently logged into the TomTom cloud server? We have experienced times on this generation of TomTom where the login is forgotten (no idea why), and although it remembers the user name, the password must be re-entered from the device to get logged in again.

Recheck Main Menu / Settings / TomTom Account and be sure it says "Logged in as" with your account name below. It's worth a look.

Properly logged in on device and website for all mentioned above. Recorded routes do not sync to MyDrive.
TomTom Rider 550 is fully up to date for software, maps, etc.

To confirm what does work:
  • Add POI via MyDrive - (Synced to TomTom Rider 550 - under 10 seconds)
  • Remove POI via MyDrive - (Synced (removed) from TomTom Rider 550 - under 10 seconds)
  • Add route to MyDrive - (Synced to TomTom Rider 550 - under 25 seconds)
Additionally
I did a full factory reset of the Rider 550, set it up and logged into my Account.
  • POIs synced to TomTom Rider 550
  • Routes synced to TomTom Rider 550
Recorded and saved a sample route - does not sync to MyDrive.

Is the only way to get recorded routes (recorded by TomTom Rider 550) to MyDrive is via SD card copy, copy to computer and upload to MyDrive?

Normally, you should be able to send your route from your GPS without the SD card

Select the route.
Select the menu button, a window opens

Select Manage route, then Add to My routes.

Humm not sure about this. You may be using something different?

Just to be clear I am trying to take a recorded route that was made on the Rider 550 and saved on the Rider 550 and have it transferred to MyDrive (plan.tomtom.com) so I can view, edit etc from a browser.

On the Rider 550 if I select the route, it opens the route to navigate, there is no Menu option.

If I go to MyRoutes on the 550 and choose Share Tracks, I can select the route, but the only option is to copy it to SD card.

Routes made with the device do not sync to MyDrive like MyDrive created routes can be set to sync. Is this the intended behaviour or have I recorded the route in the wrong format or have a setting wrong which causes the route not to sync?

My Application version is 24.102.003.411(0) (07/05/2024) which seems a bit old maybe? Does the 550 update its own software over WiFi, too - or only maps (and cameras, etc), maybe it needs to be plugged into a computer to update its system software?

I checked software on the tomtom site:

https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360014400819-Sat-nav-software-release-notes

Latest version listed for my device is this and that is what is installed. I think you are using a newer hardware model that supports this kind of syncing.

Release date: 14/05/24
Software version: 24.102.0003
This applies to: GO Basic, GO Classic, GO Essential, GO Professional, GO Premium/ Premium X, GO 520/5200, GO 620/6200, GO Navigator (6”), GO Camper, Rider 500/550

Think I am stuck with SD card transfer only.
