TomTom Model(s)
tomtom one 2nd Edition
Dear colleagues
As an owner of the above I have installed Tomtom Home, and gone through the update process as far as it allows me including gps fix etc. I do understand this model is "end of life".
Still I would like to enquire with members whether I have the chance to update the map to a more recent one (I notice when using it the map is out of date, and some junctions are no longer viable even though the satnav directs me there.
Please does anyone know if an update is available in any way, and would I need to obtain a map on an SD card if that were the case.
Please see attached screen shot of the map version etc
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Best wishes, Ian

I'm afraid that Tomtom does not make more current maps available for EOL devices. What you have is what you are stuck with. Might be time to consider a current model.

Thank you dhn. Please do you know whether or not the map v660.1199 on SD card was the latest ever produced for the tomtom one, or not?

Not even close. More than likely something starting with 9. Your map is at least 13 years old. Devices became EOL about 3 years ago.

Dear dhn . Thank you for that helpful information. Please do you happen to know if I can obtain a more up to date sd card from someone on the forum perhaps. Maybe there is an image to download from somewhere, Or maybe I would be able to make up a map SD with some downloadable map from somewhere please?

dhn gave you the best advice available at this time.
Maps have grown in size disproportionately now showing even the lanes on parking lots, and will not fit your device.

Dear Arno. Thank you kindly clarifying. It is just that I have seen some of the same model of satnav as mine advertised for sale (eg ebay etc) that have more up to date maps than the map I have. I accept I cannot have bang up to date eg 2020 etc , but if there was possibility of "somewhat" more new than the one I have right now would be pleased.
I just thought any possibility that may be available might be explained to me on the forum. Still I accept your response as more informed than mine and thank you both once more. Ian

If you connect to TomTom with HOME it is the newest or nothing.
Sorry, you should have been upgrading years ago when the maps were still smaller.

Ian, maps are keyed to the device. My Europe map is on an SD card. If I take that out and put it in an identical device to mine, it will not work.
Maps can only be purchased from TomTom through their software via an active connection to the internet.
There is no possibility to use an image, even if it could be made.

I an sorry, but it is futile to discuss this any further.

Hi Arno, thank you for providing this background information about how the tomtom one updating was arranged, and thereby explaining to me in a way that I can understand, that the possibiity to upgrade my Tomtom One (v2) does not exist. I have only owned the device for two or three years, and I obtained it second hand at that time. I see now that I have clearly missed out on the opportunity of updating.I perceive that the policy of tomtom like so many other manufacturers of hardware, is or was that of "built-in obsolesence
