You're correct about the lack of a card slot. The ONE 3rd appears to be an extremely "introductory model" GPS. It only has a non-expandable 1 GB memory, of which the USA & Canada maps eat ~780MB (UK & other map sizes vary, obviously). This doesn't leave much room for voices & POI add-ons.A little confused on the TomTom One. I understand there is a 3rd edition.

If all you want is a basic "Turn Left in 300 Yards" model, then this isn't a bad choice. The prices I've seen for these range between: $100 & $130, whereas the ONE-S cost about $100 more.
