TomTom One purchase question

I own a TomTom One V2 and am thinking to buying some for my daughters and their husbands. I have a couple of questions regarding this if someone can help.

* How do I know what the latest version of the mapping software is?

* How do I check to be sure the device I will be purchasing has the latest version and hasn't been sitting on store shelves?

* If the latest version contains the mapshare version, would I be able to copy it onto my device which is currently at the highest version ex mapshare (6.65?).

TomTom Home says that the latest version is 7.10 for the maps and it allows you to update the maps free for a month to the latest version (and it will allow mapshare to update until new maps are released).

Interesting. I have tried to upgrade my unit's maps, but all I get from TomTom is that I have to buy them? How do you upgrade the maps?

Map Upgrade

Use your HOME Software, click on add maps. It will suggest the maps for your unit, and select the one you want.
