I have tried both of those. It does power on and stay on with the USB cord attached. Also, when I go to update on TomTome home site I always get an error that says can not create E:data.chk
data.chk is a vital file necessary for the proper functioning of the operating system (It is NOT a recovered loose file chain as Windows thinks it is).
Try a pin rest. If that doesn't help, try the Clear flash tool found here.
