DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM , we got the "white death screen " as it is posted on wikipedia. called tomtom support and wentthrough 5 different agents. received item for Christmas of 2010 and they advised since purchaser could not track due to paying with best buy gift card and did not have original receipt that i was "sol" thats right the agent agreed i was sol. I went as high as calling corporate which is not easy to get their number and " the techinal support specialist atthe corporate office " states until i can produce te original proof of purchase they can do nothing. again i advised was a gift and asked how can i get a proof of purchase and her replied was " that's up to you ". DO NOT BUY ONE its a KNOWN issue and tom tom does NOTHING about it!

I can understand their reticence to deal with you as a "one year" warranty customer. The TomTom ONE 3rd was first produced back in 2007, and ceased production some time ago, although they are still available as refurbished units here and there.

If you will allow us to help you, we may be able to restore your unit to operating condition. We've got some skilled folks here - none of whom work for TomTom, by the way.
