I just purchased a TomTom 710 and found it be a piece of junk!! First of all you cannot contact anytone by email if your question does match whats' on the list of FAQ's or their specific list of problems. The only time you can call customer support is during normal business hours.Heaven forbid if you have a problem in the evening or after business hours.

Try typing in the following address and see what you get:

48600 West 11 Mile rd, Novi, MI

It comes out all whacked up as:

11 W Mile Rd 48600, Novi, MI

What kind of ate crap is that?

I should have bought a Garmin!

I'm not sure what your beef is here. I can find this address on my unit. Can you? Is your complaint just the word order?

Anyway, here's a pic of the location. Is it accurate?

Yes, I am also able to find this address. I am using TomTom One LE with Map USA and Canada v710.1575

I assume "t" didn't check the option "house number before street name"
Can you please explain what this option do for us? You see, LE didn't come with a user manual. Thanks in advance.

All TT manuals are on a disc to save paper. They're in PDF format.

Here are the steps:

Change Preferences --> Name preferences (page 5 of 7) --> Check the box that says "Show house number before street name"

It does exact what it says - show the number before the name. i.e. 123 Main St. instead of Main St. 123

Except for the LE, because it doesn't even come with a Disc.

Thanks for the explanation, but I think it already does this without even checking that feature. Or am I looking at the wrong place for that extra information on the display?

Yeah, I can't help but notice that was tcareywood's first and only post.... LOL

Tom tom are ****

Tom Tom is quite simply the worst equipment and product support i have ever encountered, i've spent £100's on equipment and maps i can't even use. Whilst seeking support for the maps (forget the equipment) i was told several times by the person on the phone that she couldn't take a call of this nature, that nature being attempting to us the hundreds of pounds worth of absolute **** i've bought from them.

I've use Garmin several times in hire cars and never did i have any issues with them, compared to Tom Tom Garmin is a dream to work with.

Moral of the story is **** TomTom bring on Garmin

I hope Google and all the other free Sat Navs around these days causes TomTom to go bust, Boy they {deleted} deserve it.

You're obviously cross, but if you deal with customer services like you've introduced yourself to us, I'm not surprised they won't take your calls.

Garmin have just as many problems, just look at their forums. And TomTom are still the market leader, so they must be doing something right.

Had you considered asking our advice on your problems, rather than just ranting about them?
I've deleted the duplicate post you made in another old topic.

You have no idea about the level of patience and courtesy I've extended to Tom Tom support, not to mention my custom of course, Its not that Customer services will not take my calls, its the fact they do NOT take support calls, so in essence I've now got hundreds of quids worth of products that I am unable to use; TOMTOM are knowingly avoiding assisting me in getting to use the items i've purchased; so without being hundreds of quid out of pocket its easy for a self righteous judge like you to make such off handed comments.

Whatever you think, TomTom is **** and their are very many others out there who agree.

I think the Nigerians give better customer services when trying to seek your assistance in banking $10,000,000USD for a dead relative.

Interestingly, there is STILL no offer to help get my equipment & Maps running, all i see your woeful bemoaning of a very dissatisfied customer.

First of all, we are NOT TomTom the company nor affiliated with it. Next, we don't appreciate crude language in this forum (which is why your post was edited),

And there is no cause for you to be rude towards a moderator or anybody else here who, like yourself, is just a TomTom user.

If you think there is a conspiracy against you by TomTom as you allude to, so be it. In the UK as I understand it, you have government agencies that you can complain to. Take advantage of it. (I know they DO take UK support calls so I assume it is YOU they won't deal with).

But stop the rudeness and inappropriate language here. Otherwise I will take appropriate action as a moderator.

And when you do calm down, maybe you can finally detail exactly what the issues are with your unit. We may be able to help.

We must be looking at different messages. *I* see offers by both Andy_P and dhn to help, but you have chosen to ignore that offer. (BTW, I'm not a moderator here, just someone who has come here for help on a couple of occasions myself, so I do not have a horse in this race.)

As dhn said, this web site has no affiliation with TomTom, and the moderators are not employed by TomTom - they are just users who volunteer their time to help people like me who are less familiar with the units and have questions or problems. If I were a moderator and the target of the above rude and insulting messages that you have sent, your behavior would certainly make me less willing to offer my time to help others.

I can understand anger and frustration in the situation that you describe, but I do not understand taking that anger out on someone who has offered to help you for no pay, and who has no actual connection to the source of your problem.

BTW, I have no great enthusiasm for the quality of the responses provided by TomTom Customer Support on many occasions - although they did a good job for me on two occasions - but I am surprised to hear you say that they do not have a CS phone line in the UK. I have called the CS phone line here in North America, and I would swear that I remember seeing messages in several web forums from customers in the UK who had talked with TomTom CS in the UK.

To be fair, TomTom HAS switched to not offering phone support in the UK as well as FR, DE and NL for 'older' models.

This policy is to be rolled out to other countries as well .............

All that said, if the poster responds in this thread in a civil manner, we may still be able to assist.

Otherwise, ....................

Assuming that he/she decides to do so, I'll mention in advance that to be able to help him/her, you will need to know:

(1) Which of the many models sold by TomTom does he/she have ? (The serial number of the device will help resolve any ambiguities about the model.)

(2) What is the specific problem or problems ?

(3) Where was the device purchased, and where does he/she intend to use it ?
