tomtom go730 flashing

I don't use my tomtom all the time. Tonight when I turned it on the screen was flashing and there seemed to be no control over it. The touch screen seems unresponsive. I don't remember it being dropped or knocked or any other damage.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Did you try resetting the unit? Is the battery charged?

Thank you for your answer. Yes, to both questions. The touch screen seems completely unresponsive. I am going to see if I can find the back up of the system I made when I first bought the unit about a year ago.

tomtom working again!!! downloaded tomtom home and connected satnav, went to operate my device and got message ' need to download file' clicked okay, file downloaded, tomtom back to normal!
