TomTom Go Android
Hello,

As there are no way to report problems to TomTom, I would like to put here a list of the troubles I encountered when using TomTom Go for Android for my first long travel. Then, if somebody have solutions for some points, I would be very grateful.

Hardware configuration :
  • New Peugeot 2008 with Android Auto
  • TomTom Go version 3.6.262(5102)
  • Smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro
This is a list of problems I encountered :
  1. When selecting a destination on the screen of the car, I had no access to the address book of my phone and its stored addresses. But it is possible to do it directly on the phone screen.
  2. When the destination is reached, the map is zoomed out and there are no simple way to see back the streets around you for parking. This is not a good idea to manipulate the screen (zoom with fingers) when driving.
  3. The POI are not always shown on the map during driving. It seems that the POI views options are reset at each run.
  4. The Audio output does not reduce radio or MP3 level sound, some indications can be confused depending about what you are listening. We can choose the output channel, but the Music Channel is the one that gives the best results (some of options gives no output).
  5. Sometime, traffic-roundabout are not vocally indicated or the number of the output is not indicated.
  6. At first, automatic day/night visualization was not correct. The map was represented in night mode during the day ! I forced to show it in day mode (unable to do it while driving). The setting seems to go back to "Automatic" at the next run, but after that the map remain shown in day mode. I didn't check if the automatic feature work well.
  7. The keyboard is too big on the car screen ! It come over the first line of suggestion ! It would be better if we had the possibility to adjust the height of the keyboard.
I am aware that it is difficult to take in account all different configurations but if there are no way to report problems to TomTom, I don't see how they could improve their tool. Thru Google Play Store, we can write some comments. Somebody from TomTom seems to answer. But the input field is very small and it seems difficult to discuss.

I tested some other GPS software with Android Auto. It seems that this problem of keyboard is linked to Android Auto and not to TomTom GO.
