Obsolescent Go Live 1005 Camper
Whenever I plan a route that does not start from 'Home/My current location', any attempt to modify the route, or insert way points etc, always results in the route start point changing to Home/My current location.
If I turn the device off, having created a 'planned route', when I turn it on again the route has reverted to starting from Home, regardless of what my original start point was.
I am currently trying to check out potential Motorhome routes through France to Southern Spain, but each time I 'change' any section of the route, the start point reverts to Home.
Anybody else encountered this issue ?
I have to admit to being somewhat less than enthusiastic about this unit when compared to my old Go 720.

Do you have the latest application (15.6xxx) on your device?

Yes everything is in order, but getting advice from "Support" is more akin to ring-a-ring-a-roses, than actually being helpful.

Have you tried to plan A B Plan route, with A being the location from where you want to start.

I have tried all sorts of options, but the end result is that if I plan a route from a point "elsewhere" than where I am located, and then turn off the device, .... when I turn it on again, it has changed the start point to Home.
I am on the point of throwing this useless piece of kit into the bin.
Yes, it came with free map updates, but everything else has to be on an annual subscription, (from traffic to weather and everything in between), which takes your money than fails to update,............ my old 720, or was it a 730, worked almost like magic, but this device is certainly not the improved gizmo for which I had hoped.
:(

When you say "Home" do you mean your programmed home location or does it mean "current location"?

The Home to which I am referring is the place where I reside, not the current location.
I know it is possible to change Home to Current Location, but I had not done so.in the situations which I describe.
Typically:
Whilst seated in my motorhome on the Costa Brava, I plan a route from Narbonne to Reims. All looks just the Vickers knickers with the planned route, so I turn the device off.
When I turn the thing on once again the route now starts from Home, as in where I live in the UK.
It is a pain in the nether regions !

Never heard of that.
Once I power up with an established route it usually shows the "Change Route" "View Route" screen.
Tapping the View route I get the Route information screen where I can select "Show map of route", "Show instructions", etc. and can see the route programmed.
Once clicking "Done" I expect to see a route to my starting point first.
Cannot follow further as I am in an area without satellite acquisition and the device thusly does not know my current position in order to proceed planning a route.

I shall just have to live with it until I can save up some funds from my miserable state pension to buy a ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Garmin ????

 ;) :D

Back again from another continental jaunt in my motorhome.
The problem which I have mentioned in this post seems to have modified itself. Now it will not retain a planned route overnight.
Typically, I plan a route for the following day's journey.
The planned route and any way points I may have inserted all look to be in place, the route is there to be checked or further modified.
I turn the device off.
The following day I turn it on and Lo and Behold there it is Gone !
NO ROUTE PLANNED.
Surely some other TomTom user must have come across this issue ?
Have I set one of the settings options incorrectly or is there something I have not done ?
Any advice would be most welcome.
To further illustrate the problem, on my recent return journey I planned a route from Issoire to Calais.
The route showed that a trip around Paris was the most direct.
I wanted to travel via Rouen.
So I put in a couple of appropriate way points.
All seemed to be OK so I turned the device off.
Next morning I connected the device and NO ROUTE PLANNED again !
So the whole process had to be repeated.
It is worth mentioning that if I turn the device off during a rest in any journey, the route is still there when I turn it back on again to continue the journey.

Unfortunately, I think that's how the routing is designed. The next morning, you can search for Recent Destination and your destination from the previous day should be at the top of the list. But don't think waypoints will be retained.

That seems most odd.
What is the point of offering an option to "Plan a Route"; an option which includes the proposed date and time of the start of the journey, only to have it disappear when the device is turned off,
I will however check your suggestion with regard to Recent destinations.
Thanks.

When planning a longer trip with one of these Nav3 units, many users will create a custom POI file that includes all of the stops, diversions, etc. that they wish to use to create a route. To keep them ordered, waypoint names are often prefaced with their sequence number, e.g., 01_MyFirstStop and 02_TheNextPlace etc etc. It requires selecting each in order and navigating to each one separately, however, so it's not nearly as convenient as it used to be when we could plan proper itineraries.

I have just received a reply from the TomTom Customer Services Team!

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
This is Rakesh and I am happy to help you.
The reference number for your query is 160526-004042.

I understand that planned route getting disappeared after switches off your GO Live 1005 device. (Poor English but I get the drift)

I would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to you. Please be assured, I will definitely help you regarding this issue. (That's Good)

By looking at your case I discover that this is basic feature on your GO Live 1005 device, due to this reason last planned route getting disappeared. (This makes no sense, but I think he is telling me that the device is working as it should, and is designed to dump the planned route when it is turned off, as dhn stated earlier)

However, you can always find your recently planned routes under "Recent destinations", your last 10 planned routes saved in "Recent destinations" and you can select any of these routes for navigation. Please follow the below instructions to find your "Recent destinations" on your device.

1. From the Menu, Select "Navigate to..".
2. Select "Recent destination".
3. Select your preferred route to plan a route. (Which I was already aware of)

I would also like to inform you that you can plan route in advance and save it for laters. Please follow the below instructions to plan route in advance.

Here are some more reasons to plan a route in advance:
Find out how long a journey is going to take before you start.
You can also compare journey times for the same route at different times of the day or on different days of the week. Your device uses IQ Routes when planning a route. IQ Routes calculates routes based on the real average speeds measured on roads.
Study the route of a journey you are planning.
Check a route for someone who is coming to visit you and then explain the route to them in detail.

To plan a route in advance, follow these steps:
1. Tap the screen to bring up the Main menu.
2. Tap the arrow button to move to the next menu screen and tap Plan route.

This button is shown while there is no planned route on your TomTom device.

3. Select the starting point for your journey in the same way that you would select your destination.
4. Set the destination for your journey.
5. If Route planning settings are set to Ask me every time I plan, select the type of route you want to plan:
 Fastest route - the route which takes the least time.
 Eco route - the most fuel-efficient route for your journey.
 Shortest route - the shortest distance between the locations you set. This may not be the quickest route, especially if the shortest route is through a town or city.
 Avoid motorways - a route which avoids motorways.
 Walking route - a route designed for making the journey on foot.
 Bicycle route - a route designed for making the journey on a bicycle.

6. Choose the date and time that you will make the journey you are planning. (This is exactly what I have been doing)

Your device uses IQ Routes to work out the best possible route at that time. This is useful to see how long a journey takes at different times of the day or on different days of the week.

Your navigation device plans the route between the two locations you selected.

I am sure above information will be helpful and will clear all your doubts. (It wasn't and it didn't)

In case if you've any concern or doubt, you can simply reply back to my e-mail. It will be a pleasure to assist you further. (I don't think I'll bother)

With Kind Regards

Not a great deal of assistance there, is there ?

Well, some time down the road, (No pun Intended) and having input new night halts into the Favourites, I attempted to check them out by planning a route from Calais to Orleans, including a couple of way points on the Francillienne.
Amazingly once the route is checked via 'Show Route summary' all seems OK, BUT having cleared the screen via 'DONE', and returning to check the route again a little later, the start point is now my residence in the UK.
Time to give up I think..
