Hi all,

has anyone got the TMC working on a Go750 yet?? I bought a genuine TMC antenna but the side bar doesnt work and i cant get any traffic working...

Can anyone help?? i have heard of guys in the UK buying the active dock with built in TMC and it working right away...

Does anyone know the correct antenna version number for the 750?

I hope someone can assist here..

Cheers

Jas

anyone?? im told the 750 wont work with a tmc antenna, you need the active dock with traffic built in.

Anyone sell me or get me a TMC avtive dock?? please as we can get them down under yet.

I am not too sure a European sourced RDS-TMC Mount for the x50 would actually work in Australia, once you set your locale to Aussy the RDS equipped accessory mount isn't listed.

As an example a European RDS receiver won't work in North America and a USA sourced receiver won't work in Europe so I would tread carefully with any purchase - Mike

wel tomtom say the 750 isnt compatible with TMC yet but im running the live navcore so it shouldnt be an issue eh??

I cant see why it wouldnt work, all it is , is a radio receiver, the tomtom is the one that processes it all and see as how i am running the 750T navcore it should work??

The RDS device does more than just receive, it converts the signal in to digital data that is read by the TomTom's serial port. I am not too sure what the system is for RDS transmission in Australia hence why I mentioned caution before purchasing a unit as something intended for use in the UK might not work where you are - Mike

ok np..but if i am using the intl 750T live navcore then surely it must work as I dont have the original aussie navcore in there.

Hi Jas,
I am having a very simular problem. My Go 750 will not connect to traffic.
I bought my wife a XL Traffic that works great, and the TMC was working perfectly. She was not using the traffic service, so I bought myself a GO 750 - with the intention of using her TMC receiver. But at no stage have I been able to get the Go to recognise the TMC is plugged in. I cannot get the side bar up, and when I go through services it comes up with an error " Cannot connect to TT live, try again later. "
When I bought the Go750 it states it is compatable with traffic.
I have been emailling TT service and they have walked me through 8 steps, but none have worked.
Does the GO 750 need a special cradle to handle the TMC antenna?? And yes I have the TMC plugged into power.
Jeff

hi,

forget tomtom customer care, they are useless, I have spent 2 weeks trying to get my 750 to work on TMC and they are more clueless than me..i have given up on tomtom CS.

I have purchased the active mount with TMC so I will let you know how it goes when i get it.

Jeff, complain again to TomTom support state their marketing clearly states the device will work with the RDS-TMC receiver which is why you bought it, if they are now claiming you must have the dock with the integral receiver then they should offer something in way of compensation due to their poor adverts that you followed to base your purchase on......

I appreciate you have the mini USB receiver for your wife's device but TT don't know that, the above train of thought is to get them to send you an RDS-TMC receiver dock for free due to their incorrect adverts/ web based information (I do know of one other person that has been sent a mount for free after complaining in this way).

If you want to convert the RDS-TMC mount to work with the Brodit style mount rather than the supplied screen sucker send me a PM with your e-mail address and I will send over a couple of documents that detail how to turn the RDS-TMC mount in to something that doesn't attach to the windscreen:

The x50 range will ONLY work with the RDS-TMC Dock and your Live subscription MUST have expired, why the x40 devices work with the Mini USB and round plug style RDS receivers but the x50 doesn't is beyond me as the x40/ x50 hardware is the same! - Mike

Hi Mike,
Can I just clarify, are you saying that the 750 will only pick up RDS traffic if you:
A) Have the RDS active dock car mount (with the little aerial out the bottom)
and
B) your live subscription has expired?

Seems a bit rubbish seeings as TT list the RDS standalone receiver as being a compatible accessory!

Cheers

Ollie

As I understand an x50 device needs to have the accessory mount with the RDS-TMC built in to work with the nav unit, the external receivers won't work, this information has been supplied by a very reliable source who I trust, I have also e-mailed my contacts within TomTom to seek further clarification as the subject is still open to subjective judgement! When I know more details I will post up a formal response.

Assuming you have the correct RDS equipped mount the TomTom either has to have no Live services available due to server outage/ poor GPRS signal coverage or expired subscription. If any one of these criteria are met then the device will switch to the TDS receiver within the mount.

I have muddied things a little by building a "hybrid" mount combining the RDS-TMC Mount dock with the attachement for the Brodit clip and wired the aerial cable through an additional socket I fitted to the rear of the mount, this in turn is connected to a high performance aerial mounted on the car roof - Mike

Thanks Mike. Would be good to know before I think about spending the money! Grateful if you could keep us posted.
Seems a shame that TomTom aren't clearer or more consistent with their devices/accessory compatibility. Must say that this ambiguity, even with just case choice, has left me less inclined to buying any extras

Cheers

Hi Mike,
Thank you very much for all your help.
Just to get the issue absolutely clear.
Plugging a TMC receiver into the standard mount for the GO750 will not work??

Talk about being p%$$^ed off.
I bought my wife the ONE XL traffic Australia, of which does not use the traffic. We had the traffic working perfectly well. I then needed to ugrade my TOMTOM, mostly to get bluetooth. I spent hours on research to come to the conclusion that the GO 750 would best suit my needs and all I needed to do was plug in my wife`s TMC to get traffic. I then wired it all in correctly ( power from car charger (USB) into TMC (USB) into mount (USB)) expecting to get traffic. I then spent days serching forums and waiting from replies from TT support for the answere. I got the first reply from TT suport giving me 8 steps to try to fix the problem. Another wasted afternoon. I upgraded my service question and received a reply stating I have upgraded my question but still no answere. Only now after many more wasted hours has an answere been found. I thank you all from the forum, but why do you guys know more about the TT product than TT themselves.
I am amazed that even on the TT website accessories I can still only find one mount for the Go 750.
Thoroughly disgusted
Jeff
PS I will pm you Mike for the directions, and will also complain to TT to see what I can do.
