TomTom on a Motorcycle (Mount)
I have 4 TomToms, 2-300's and 2-700's. I first tried using a 700 on the bike, bad idea. It has a hard drive. Use a model that has an SD card, like the 300. Next, get what is called a "P" clamp. They call it that, cause it looks like a P. Try a motorcycle store or e-bay. Then head to the hardware store to the electrical department. They use a particular type of clamp to hold conduit to a wall or anything else. It looks like this:

The dots are not there, I had to put them there because posting removed the spaces that were there. So ignore the dots.
It has a hole in the base (the straight line at the bottom), and a hole in the two flats at the top. The hole in the bottom is to fasten the bracket to the P Clamp. The two holes are to fasten what I will call the SHOE to the Bracket. The shoe is that thing you snap you TomTom into to mount it to the windshield. Just the first piece. Get either a bolt/nut/lockwasher or a thumbscrew and a wing nut (if you want to be able to tighten it on the road) to fasten the Shoe to the Bracket. Get a Philips head cap bolt/nut/lockwasher to hold the bracket to the P Clamp. You might want stainless, or if you really want to get fancy, chrome. Use a piece of electrical tape to hold the nut inside the base of the bracket or glue it in with JB Weld. If you ride rough roads, put some JB Weld in the ribs of the SHOE, to make them stronger. I have broken two before I started reinforcing the ribs. This will make sense once you get all the parts together.
Remember, the car cord is just a electrical supply, not a charger. You need to take the TomTom into the house once a week and put it on the house charger.
If you want to power it on the bike, get a lighter extension cord, and wire it to the battery. Do not cut the car cord and wire ti to the battery, they are different voltages. Run the wire under the tank and out near the handle bars. You can find a clamp that will go around the female end (socket) to mount it Just like for the Shoe. Just get creative and you will figure something out. I have 3 outlets on mine. XM/Bluetooth/TomTom. I use a cell phone blue tooth adapeter to transmit the XM to the Bluetooth in my helmet. I suppose you could transmit the TomTom to your helmet if you wanted.
