Tomtom 910 Go - Not booting up

Hi,

It gets as far as the splash screen, but will go no further. I have reinstalled TomTom Home and also reformatted the Tomtom and reinstalled the contents from a complete copy of the hard drive from a number of months ago.

What is the likely solution please? I have used the reset button and that does not remedy the constant splash screen view.

What is the minimum required on the Tomtom to fire it up?

This has only happened since it was left inside my car at minus 15. Do you think the battery could be underperforming? The device is about 3 years old now.

Thanks

Connect the device to your PC and use Windows Explorer to view the files and folders on the device. When you first open the drive letter assiciated with your 910 you will see lots of folders and some lose files, delete all the lose files, DO NOT touch any folders or files within folders.

Next, start up TomTom Home and tap the button for "Update my Go" this will let the software download and install a new copy of the Navcore software the device needs.

When its complete make sure you uae the Tools/ Disconnect My TomTom as pulling the device off the cradle with any software transfer in progress will mess up the device - Mike

Hi,

I have followed the above instruction. When I go on TomTom Home it says I have an invalid installation of the Tomtom application installed on my Tomtom device. To use Home you need to instal the correct version of the Tomtom application.

Also when I try to 'Operate my Go' I get the following message...........TomTomHOMERuntime.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Home then closes.

The Tomtom device operates fine apart from when I connect to the PC.

Thanks,

Gramac

To confirm, you now have the device working as a standalone navigation device but the Home interface is borked?

If the above is true then continue to re-start Home on the PC and connect the 910, at some point it will download the necessary file to make the opperate my go function work (for what thats worth).

Why Home is reporting the wrong software is loaded to the device is beyond me assuming you followed the earlier advice as Home installed the Navcore to the device so it cannot be wrong.

To confirm whats actually installed let the device boot up not connected to the PC and tap the sat strength meter (lower right corner) followed by the version box, the resultant screen will offer lots of information including the device software which should be something like 7,903 as I recall for the latest Go-910 Navcore - Mike
