Tomtom 910 - connect to PC

Hi all,

When I'm using my TomTom in my car, I am increasingly getting the message about connecting to my pc - especially on bumpy roads. Is there a fix - needless to say the unit is not under warranty. Thanks.

Think I've seen something like this before where the charger connection to the unit loses proper connection (you mentioned bumpy roads) and there is still power going to the unit, but less than the normal power from a charger. The power from a usb port is less than a car charger and, because of the loose connection, the power to the unit is reduced to that of a usb port. So, the unit thinks that's how it's connected and asks whether it should be connected to a computer.

I'm not sure whether a reset of the unit will help but hopefully UK based SuperMod, mikealder, will see this thread and post some better advice.....

Give the reset switch a prod with a pin but I don't think there was anything ever proven as to why the device thought it was seeing a PC connection when bouncing on the mount, the mount contains some electronics so there is communication between the device and the mount while the device is in use. The x10 mount was a great idea but sadly never really worked very well - Mike

You won't lose any data or settings all it does is make the unit re-load the Navcore software from scratch, takes a few seconds longer for it to start up when you next switch it on - I got so used to resetting some of my devices I carry a paperclip in the car for this very purpose - Mike
