Does anyone know how long a fully charged tomtom lasts when it is not in use. I charge it up and a week later it is flat

With the device simply switched off the processor is still actually running, all the on/ off button does is put the device in to a sort of suspend mode, you can turn it off fully by pressing the reset button on the base of the device which will prolong the battery while the device is off - Mike

Nope, you won't lose any data or settings if you decide to reset the unit with the paperclip - Mike

Just one caveat: Tomtom stores many things in ram and doesn't commit them to the internal flash memory until you shut the Tomtom off.

If you pinreset before turning off, recent preference changes and recent destinations may not be saved. You should turn the Tomtom off normally and wait for the screen to shut off, then do the pin reset.
