I am/was about to purchase a TomTom 730. but a number of sites have mention the free 2 year map upgrades is only valid up until 30th April 2009, which has now past.

Does that mean i would have to stick with the maps installed on the TomTom?

Would i still be able to upgrade the maps?

The reason i have chosen the 730 over the 740 is mainly cost, and will not be wanting to pay ?8 per month for Live services.

If i did go for the 740 are the maps free to update?

thanks

The 2-year free map offer was only for those of you in the UK. Unfortunately, for those of us in North America (where this site is based), we never were offered that deal by a retailer.

Be that as it may, you STILL are entitled to the Latest Map Guarantee (LMG), regardless of which new unit you buy, a 730 or 740. Get the latest within 30 days of first use.

Both models are eligible for subscription purchases of new maps (4 updates per year for a fixed amount, much less expensive than what ONE update cost just a few months ago).

Finally, if you DO get either model in the next few days, consider this. You get one kick at the can for the LMG. It is suspected that a new 830 map will be released on or about the end of May, give or take a couple of days. My point? Hold off taking advantage of the LMG until at about day 26 or 27 (don't wait longer) of your 30 day window. By then you may be able to get 830 for free rather than grab 825 now, just to see a new 830 map within a couple of weeks that you would now have to pay for.

Make sense?
