I just recently bought a tomtom 3rd edition, the US one without the bluetooth however i didn't know that, retail store advertised it as teh V3 with the bluetooth. Anyways, i returned that Tomtom for a full refund.
now the question, when i had the tomtom 3rd edition, i backed everything up onto the computer with the sfotware Tom Tom provided, if i were to buy a Tom Tom One (http://www.amazon.com/TomTom-ONE-Portable-Vehicle-Navigator/dp/B000H866BM) would i be able to flash the One with the files i had from the 3rd and have a "v3" so to speak?

The firmware that was just recently released is an updated version of what the Third Edition ONE has so its better to just download the update from HOME and flash it to your new ONE.

oh! so the updated one has like.. the " where am i " options and everything the 3rd has? so i should buy a one right?

Yes, it does have those features as it is a software feature.

I prefer the ONE New Edition over the ONE 3rd Edition simply because of the expandable storage but its really up to you and what your needs are.

3rd edition has new map, mapshare, Navcore 7.
The bad is no SD card slot so the size is limited. No bluetooth for TomTom Plus.

Is there any way of getting the Mapshare and upgraded maps on my TomTom new edition?

You can get the Mapshare feature by simply updating to NavCore 7 which should be done automatically when you connect to HOME.

The maps that work with Mapshare needs to be at least version 6.75 and there is an option to buy version 7 maps as well. Both maps are available through TomTom's site but you need to switch the language to UK to be able to pay and download it.

I haven't done it but members here have.
