If i purchase a tomtom 325 s in the US would it have support for canada also? or do i have to buy a map for canada separately?

The 325 and 325S come with the US map only. The 335S is on sale for $150 US and comes with both US & Canada.

so would it be possible for me to get a map of both the US and canada on there? would i have to pay?

On what? The 325? Yes, you would have to pay for a Canadian only map and, furthermore, there may be space issues in getting both maps installed such that you might have to move the US map to the computer in order to install the Canada map. Not sure, but it is a possibility.

Why not consider the 335S which is a higher model for less $$$ ??

i got a 325 se silver edition and it came with us can and mex maps....goodluck finding it though walmart website no longer has it
