Hi,
I had been using my tomtom for a while, and one day it became stuck on the boot screen. i read on a forum that backing up the mapsettings.cfg, erasing the tomtom on file explorer, and then reinstalling through tomtom home would fix this, and it did to some extent, as it now powers on fully, however it now comes up with ‘no maps found’. i have no clue where this mapsettings.cfg file would even go. is there anything that can be done to fix this? The first 2 letters of the serial number are PS :)

Hi
Your GPS ONE 140, 2 GB, is no longer tracked by Tomtom so it is no longer possible to reinstall a map.
Have you looked on your computer, you must have a full backup of your GPS.

no it’s never been backed up; every time i tried to, it would give an error saying it couldn’t, so i just never did it.

If you haven't made a backup, you can't find a map on Tomtom Home, your GPS is good for recycling.

Yes, as Willy says, your device is toast UNLESS you did a prior map update using the PC you currently are using. Those maps stay on your PC.

Fire up TomTom Home and see what says about content on your computer, not your device. Is there a map shown? If so have Home install it to your 140.

And the original advice you got was dead wrong. Only the backed up mapsettings.cfg file should have been deleted, not the entire device content!

Let us know if this helps.

hi, thanks to you both for your replies. Yes after i formatted the tomtom something felt off lol, however i have since managed to install navcore 9.541, and UK + ROI maps v1075.10995 from Google (with FxxxAxxxxxxx to let me use the map). But now I experience a new problem - my tomtom now seems to bootloop. It will stay on for roughly 40 seconds before showing the tomtom logo, and then reloading. Theres no drumroll though. I've tried removing the mapsettings.cfg file, but no change. It doesnt bootloop when it is in syncing mode plugged into my computer, so i dont think its a physical issue. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

We wish you'd stuck with the program here (literally).

FWIW: Your 1075 maps 'from Google' and 'FastActivate' are bogus. FxxxAxxxxxxx also involves modified NavCore, and this map pirating software isn't always reliable, as you have discovered.

Please re-check as requested whether Home reports the presence of any maps on your PC. Again, if you ever updated your map, then old copy(ies) of them will still be resident on your PC.

IF you can find a map there anywhere, please (if it's still possible), reload whatever firmware Home thinks your device needs, and let's hope to heck the bootloader didn't get updated to a level that won't allow you to load the real TomTom NavCore firmware.
