tomtom 1 3rd edition @ start up is showing a big fat x plz help

I was trying to fix a problm my bros tomtom one 3rd edition had, it would start up load then shut down,i did soem kind of update and now it shows a big fat flashing red X I tried to restore the system it won't work I reseted as well & it won't work does anyone know whats happening? How do I fix this? Plz help

The X is an indicator that the unit does not 'see' its system files to operate. Can you use TTHome to try to reinstall the operating system? (should be located in a download folder on the computer).
