TOM TOM XL IQ routes

bought a tomtom XL IQ ROUTES UK/ROI today to replace tomtom one v3 which i had on tom tom home, i installed the new routes and followed everything on screen even at start to disuse old tomtom and replace it with the new one and use updated map etc. all i get now after 7 hours trying to get it working is map needs activating but with xl iq i thought this was all done by tom tom home. any clues how to fix driving me mad here cheers stav

Did you update the map when you got the unit or is it the original? If updated, look here for how to install without using Home:

And you'll find the downloaded map here:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\maps\

(if on a pc with XP. With Vista, W7 or a Mac, the path is slightly different)
