My Tom Tom fell off the windscreen and now will not recognise there is a sd card inserted.

I have tried to reset but this has not helped any advice would be gratefully received.

Are there any files/ folders on the memory card, pop the card in to a card reader connected to your PC then use Windows Explorer to see whats on the card - Mike

I have put it into the computer and it is saying i need to format it? Do i need to do that?

This is the card that came with the Tom Tom?

When i push something in the reset nothing happens?

Apparently the data on the SD card is corrupt because the picture on the tomtom shows a card with a red cross.

How do I install software again onto the card? I cannot find the discs that came with the tomtom? Can I purchase the software? Or download?

It wasn't supplied with any disks, if you don't have a backup of the device on your computer then you will have to purchase a new map for it but everything else can be downloaded for free via TomTom Home_2 - Mike

Same Problem, no trauma, just stop reading the card

My TomTom One (2d Edition) is giving the same symptoms--I get the same card with red X. It worked fine one day, not the next. Always handled with TLC. Went thru all the troubleshooting suggestions. A card reader shows all the folders that are on the back-up on my PC are on the card. I was even able to create a back-up (to a different folder of course) using the card while in the One--just another check on the folders on the card during all of this. Thru it all I keep getting the red X.

Connect it to the PC and use Windows Explorer to view the files and folders stored on the device. The first time you click the drive letter and it opens is known as the root of the drive.

Below all the folders will be a set of files, I want you to delete these files, DO NOT touch any files in folders or folders.

With the files deleted connect it to TomTom Home and hit the "Update My TomTom" button, this will download and install a fresh set of the software the device needs. Finally use the "disconnect my device" option in TomTom Home and the device should start up - Mike
