Hi i have a corrupt map not sure why, how do i restore the default map from unit? i have disc but i think that's just the home software where are the original maps stored?. WHen i brought the unit new it did have maps in it are they the latest or do i need to update? how often are the maps updated? i just need to get past the corrupt error message i am not sure what i did to my map sigh. how do i start a fresh?? Also if i give this unit to friend to use on trip can they sign up a new account it seems to always log in with my email account? why dont they make tomtom like a computer reformatt and start again?? :confused:

Did you make a backup of your unit's contents when you first got it, including the map folder?
 
i dont think i did? if i didnt cant i get the map from somwhere default map?
 
Well, if the map was legitimate and you've had the unit less than 30 days, you are entitled to the latest map for that unit for free. If it is beyond 30days and you have no backup of the map and the map is corrupt, you may be out of luck and need to buy the latest map for your unit.

What EXACTLY is the problem you are having?
 
On a new device the map exists in the device only. If it's gone and you had no backup, the only option you have is pleading your case directly to Tomtom. What makes you think your map is corrupt?
 
well i brought it second hand and i assume it is i was getting error up so i deleted map things hoping it would re download, If you buy a second hand one why does the persons log in details come up? bottom line i want to start a fresh with me as a new user and have none of there details on it etc. I thought it was me much like doing a hard reset and it would just go back to factory settings? I would imagine its over 30days.

FROM TOMTOM HOME DELETE THE MAP THAT IS CORRUPT. THEN DISCONNECT FROM THE COMPUTER. REBUTE YOUR COMPUTER AND RECONNECT TO TOM TOM HOME AGAIN . WHEN YOU UPDATE THIS MISSING MAP SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE DOWNLOADED.

tHE BACKUP US USUALLY ON THE C DRIVE UNDER TOMTOM HOME. YOU CAN CHECK. THIS IS WHERE IT GOES WHEN YOU BACKUP FROM HOME. IN HOME UNDER TOOLS AND THEN TO PREFERENCES IT SHOWS EXACTLY WHERE YOUR BACKUP GOES
