Gravity, what failed? Was it the old charging fault again? When mine stopped charging, I enquired of TT what the fault was but never received any response from them, just a new dock.
This is very concerning, not only for us as consumers, but also from TT's perspective. I can't imagine that they will continue replacing docks for ever. I was hoping that the reason for docks not being available for purchase as accessories was because they had withdrawn the old dock to replace them with a modified version .... maybe they are just running out of docks having replaced so many of them?
In my case, I am wondering if a case of "reverse emf" had caused the fault. I have my wiring to the dock controlled by a relay that shuts the accessory power off when I turn the key of the bike off ... avoids the flat battery in the morning situation. When the relay opens, a spike of energy is discharged into the wiring from the coil inside the relay, this is referred to as "back emf". I mentioned this to TT as a simple circuit modification to the dock would rectify this (as well as the odd reverse connection of the dock wires I am sure). My relay now has a diode across the coil to overcome the problem there, so hopefully I won't suffer a reoccurrance as you have!!

Yes it is the charging thing again This one just made it the season. I think because I did more riding in the rain this year ( Some times you just got to ride) There was a post on here som where when someone opened the base and found that there are steel pins inside that are rusting causing bad connections. So I hope I will beable & open the old one & clen up these pins or change them to copper (wire or stock) and stop this once & for all. I wish I had not thrown out my first one just to investigate.

As far as back EMF I dont see that happening ( spikes yes but not back EMF ) other wise any relay on your bike would be effected including your turn signials .The diode is a good idea a 30 volt cap would go good in the circuit. but I would hope a good EE would think that threw right from the drawing board.

Was it steel pins Gravity?? Seem to remember the post and I thought that it was steel springs on the brass pins ... may be wrong??? Try opening it up if it fails and replace them with stainless steel is my suggestion.
Just coming into Spring time here, so gearing up for our riding season having done some serious miles in USA over our winter.
