Well I am enlightened. The Tom Tom website states that the TomTomHome software is compatible with Mac OS 10.5.8 through 10.7.0 (Leopard, Snow Leopard & Lion)
WRONG !
I updated my XXL 550 (purchased in July) two weeks ago on my iMac running Leopard, no problems all fine.
Last week I upgraded to Snow Leopard being the process to get to the latest version from Apple, namely Lion.
Today I attach my TomTom device to my iMac and 'hey presto' this warning sign appears. 'Device cannot be recognized' choice of Initialize (which takes you to disk utility) Ignore or Eject.
Naturally this problem needed some assistance from technical support. After hanging on the phone for 30 minutes I went through and hour process of trial and error to be told that my Snow Leopard is INCOMPATIBLE with my device. So 90 minutes wasted in so far as no solution to my problem except that I should use my wife's G5 which has not had the OS updated.
Tom Tom products are great BUT when the 's*** hits the fan' they are absolutely useless at solving the problem
! ! MORE people should be made aware of this problem to save them wasting their time contacting technical support (Based in Mexico) for USA patrons. ! !
