Tom Tom One New Edition + 2.0 GB SD Card / Tom Tom Go 720 + 4.0 GB SD Card
Happy New Year, I read something that I can obtain and load a file to enable voice recognition for my Tom Tom 720. I would greatly appreciate step by step procedures from one of our knowledgeable members..

Hello and welcome. This has been outlined in great detail already. Do a search. Have a look at this thread.

I checked the thread and I am a little afraid I am going to screw things up, so please be patient. I should do the following:
- Update to newest map version
- Create a file named support_asr.dat
- place file in ASR folder on my sd card

question: do I place a 1 in the file name like support1_asr.dat before I add it to my ASR folder. ( will be using my 4.0gb sdhc card to run the device) please correct me

If you have a look at this thread, you won't have any problems. I read the first couple of posts and had it done in less time than it takes to finish my cup of coffee. To be safe "you" should read the whole thread before you change anything.

If you follow what others have done you shouldn't mess anything up. You are only adding a file to the TomTom, not screwing with the registry.

You put the 1 in the file that you created.

Oh yes, I nearly forgot...Welcome to TomTom Forums:D

Please tell me that you are not amongst the ones that NEVER backup their TomToms.
I actually over kill the backups. I use home and then I always copy my SD card before any major changes through my card reader to a data disk. Thanks
