On one of my previous devices it was possible to tap the screen at a point that I wanted guidance to and it would plan route for me, is this still possible on the TT Go Superior.

Yes. In 2D map mode, you can still press a point on the screen until the marker pops up, and the device will ask if you wish to navigate to that location.
