TomTom Model(s)
Go Classic
I just bought a Tomtom Go Classic
It is installed in my car with PERMANENT power supply.
What can I do to make the battery last as long as possible?

Unclear if you mean the device is also now full-time in the vehicle, or just that you've done a hard-wired supply for it.

You also don't describe the nature of your "PERMANENT" power supply. Not knowing for certain what that means, there's no way to know if the design is assured to provide a proper nominal voltage and sufficient current, both of which are important to battery charge.

For best battery treatment, you'd ideally want to avoid attempting to charge when the device remains in the car and gets either very hot or very cold. Everything you see published will recommend charging only when a lithium ion cell/pack is between 32℉ (0℃) to 113℉ (45℃). Dash temperature excursions get past that in both directions in most climates, so if the device stays in the car, the battery is going to have to deal with it.

Long and short of all of this - a windscreen is a horrible place for a battery powered device when it comes to treating the battery nicely - but there's little to be done for that.

Thank you for your thorough answer. Would it help, if I discharge the batteri once a week?
No, not really. There's little you that you can control in this regard, unfortunately. Lithium Ion likes to be run between 20 and 80% charge, and for long term storage (more than a month), prefers to be charged to 50% (not 100%) before the storage period starts.

About the best you can do is to avoid charging it outside of the recommended temperature range, which means keeping it indoors or off the windscreen when things get extreme.
