Supported SD Cards

I am planning to purchase A-DATA Turbo 8GB Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) Flash Card Model TurboSD SDHC 8G (This is 8GB SDHC Class 6) card.

Does TomTom Go 720, support 8 GB SD card? Also, does anyone know what maximum data transfer speed it supports i.e. Class 2, 4 or 6?

Thanks,

With firmware 8.3, a 720 can deal with a sdhc card of over 4 gigs, and a class 6 works....

with firmware less than 8.3, a 720 can read/write to a 4 gig card but only read from a card > 4 gigs. you'd need a card reader to install stuff in the upper limit of that sized card.

Little confused.

so, If I have latest firmware, then 8GB- SDHC class 6 should be OK , you mean?

Thanks,

Should not be a problem but get a known sdhc card from a known company (such as SanDisk).

OTOH, the two SDHC cards I bought new, a TopRam 4GB class 6 and PNY 8GB class 4 worked right from the package and never caused any problem since. I almost always use my TT with one of those two cards.

I bought a scanDisk 8 gb extreme III class 6 have no ben able to get it to work. Copy all files from my hdd thru reader plug it in home will scan and download but one xl s gives rex X on card. have ordered 8 gb 4 class will see what happens

The SDHC cards were meant to work ONLY with the Go series of TT units. While some have gotten sdhc cards to work with non-Go units, it isn't a sure thing.
