Just a question on maps for my GO910. They are 1 issue out of date and Ican pay ?7 and ?8 respectively for the current US & UK/Europe maps. Then I can subscibe into the update service.

If I were to wait say a year and then update to the latest maps, any idea if this would save me anything?.

I'm reluctant to update the US maps at this moment in timeas I wont be using them until this August anyway.

The subscription series has two components: 1) the cost to update to 'current' and 2) the cost for four more updates/year.

The less recent your current map is, the more you pay to get it to that level. If you don't plan to visit the States for a year then, as I see it, any cost savings by updating now will be wasted on map updates you won't be using. That said, the math issue is whether each quarter's cost to upgrade is greater than each quarter's map update once subscribed. If it is, you lose. If it's equal, then it is a saw off.

Does the UK site give (the equivalent to) dollar amounts for getting to current?? UK support should know if it doesn't.

That just about sums up the situation I am at, especially as I could buy a "new" US map for ?29 as they are discounted from the full price of ?45 on TomTom home. I was really wondering if anyone else on here had found it better to subscribe or just get a one off map update every year or so.

I'm tempted to keep my UK maps up to date but wait until Summer before looking at getting the US map updated.

The UK site gives prices in pounds and no equivalent dollar price.

Yes, it seems all TomTom sites are having map sales.

You may just want to go for the US map on sale. Before subscription series' came along, essentially nobody updated their maps more than once a year, if that.

Hi,
In Australia we dont have quarterly map updates subscriptions, but when I tried to log on the US website with my tomtom, it seemed to want to sell me the update service.

Is their map subscriptions availble for quarterly update in Australia, say purchased from US or UK? If so, I wish to sign up!

Which countries can have quarterly updates?

Hi again,
After much searching, I have found
"The Map Update Service is available to all TomTom customers in the USA, with subscription prices available for maps of the USA, CAN, MEX and European maps.

Map Update Service is not available for all maps (e.g. regional maps).

TomTom HOME will not offer the Map Update Service unless you have map version 7.xx or higher installed."

AS usual, the information is incorrect in that we in Canada have access to the subscription series for North American maps as do users in Europe for relevant European maps.
