Strange Navigation

I've heard of other GPS's doing this, but this morning was the first time I experienced it first hand. Cruising south on the NJ Turnpike, my route taking me to a destination just off Exit 9. At exit 13 my Go 720 wants me to take the exit (which I didn't), and then before it recalculates the route I see it would have put me right back on the Turnpike South. I'm running firmware 8.010.9369, North American Map 720. I have fastest route & allow toll roads selected as planning options.

It may be common sense, but it is apparent to me you can't blindly trust these things. Usually it will get you where you want to go, but not necessarily the most effective way.

This sort of problem used to pop up in the forums a couple of years ago (in the early days of TomTom), but I haven't heard of it happening for ages.

Just curious, but can you check if that section of the highway is blocked by mapshare or by mistake? It taking you off and putting you back on the highway sure is interesting...

i doubt it was a problem with tomtom's navigation, as routing in that area is pretty good. it sounds like there was an outside factor influencing it. i agree, it could be mapshare causing the problem, or something that relies on outside input.

In home's main menu.......reference for Mapshare...........undo ALL changes.

Can I view the map through Browse Map... and see if there have been MapShare corrections? If I'm understanding your directions that will wipe out all the MapShare corrections. How would I reapply them if I do this?

Recheck the options you want and a new mapshare update should include them.
